CADLANVALLEY SANDPIPER LEMIEUX BSPS CHAMPION OLYMPIA 2017 AND BEST OF BREED

He made his seventh consecutive appearance at Olympia 2017 and won his Third Title of Best of Breed Welsh B , no mean feat in itself to qualify every year since a 5 year old with numerous placeings in the top 10 for several years, it was lovely for him to go all the way this year. Well done to Kathleen Scott his owner and Katy Marriott Payne his producer.

A tremendous Horse of the Year show 3 wins for Cadlanvalley ponies

What could only be described as an exciting few days with the first win for our ponies was with Kathleen Scotts Cadlanvalley Sandpiper produced and ridden by Katy Marriott Payne he is the NPS Baileys Horse Feeds Mountain and Moorland Ridden Welsh B of the Year. No stranger to HOYS as he has qualified every year since four years old and has won it before in 2015. Then on another day it was a win in The Spencer Family Lead Rein Pony of Hunter Type of the Year Championship for Cadlanvalley Super Ted owned by Lisa Kerr ridden by Ness Kerr and produced by Graig Eleanor. This was his second win at Hoys as two years previously he won with Cate Kerr a sister to Ness. To give both sisters a win was amazing. Then our third win was in the PUK Junior M&M Ridden Small Breed Pony of the Year with Cadlanvalley Mikado and our grandaughter Libby Grota and they were also Reserve Champion .So thrilling to see a pony win at Hoys home bred and ridden by youre grandaughter is everyones dream. Our advert for the 2018 Welsh Pony and Cob Society Journal sums up HOYS 2017.

2017 Showing Council /Showing Awards Show Personality of the Year

We were just thrilled to be nominated for the HOYS Breeder of the Year Award Catagory. Then to be picked for the final six studs to go forward to the final was amazing as the other finalists were Tiger Horses, Sharpator Stud (Shetlands) Lostock Stud (Coloureds) Rotherwood Stud (Welsh B and Riding Ponies) and Brookfield Stud (Riding Ponies) so were in excellent company. Not for a minute did we ever think we would win this Breeder of the year award but we did.As this was done on a public vote we would like to say a big thank you to the many of you that supported us by voting and for the nomination in the first place. Great to see Welsh ponies can be succesfull against other breeds.A big well done also to our grandaughter Libby Grota who was nominated for Junior Rider of the year and ended up Reserve a great acheivement.Thank you to my daughter Hayley and grandaughter Libby for representing us on the night.

ROYAL WELSH 2017

It was a great honour for my husband to judge the Welsh B,s at the 2017 show ,after exhibiting our own ponies since 1976 and first winning at the 1979 show it seemed really strange not to be an exhibitor there. There were some outstanding exhibits forward and he tried to pick ponies similar to what we breed with substance and bone.We do breed a lot of palominos but would never put colour over breed type. These were the major Prizewinners of the 2017 Show.
